Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co. has formed a three-year charitable relationship with New Pond Farm as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Each year Charter Oak will donate $10,000 to the farm’s Endowment for Inner City Youth, a special fund established years ago by generous members. This designated fund provides a significant percentage of the farm’s scholarships for inner city children attending its summer camp program from Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury. This program brings together children from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds for 10 days to experience life on the farm, building life skills and friendships along the way.
Financial support from Charter Oak comes from the agency’s charitable arm, The Charter Oak Fund, and is part of a larger community-outreach strategy benefiting children in the agency’s three major markets of southern Connecticut, central/eastern Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
“The ability to help children in our communities is tremendously important,” said Brendan Naughton, general agent of Charter Oak. “We are in a fortunate position to support New Pond Farm’s mission to give its campers the experience of a lifetime and look forward to building this relationship over the coming years. We chose New Pond Farm because of its long-term grass-roots commitment to children in towns we serve in Fairfield County. We wanted to have a direct and positive impact on children in need.”
“We are so grateful for this outstanding support,” said New Pond Farm in its release. “Grant monies are difficult to come by these days so we are thrilled that Charter Oak is helping to strengthen our endowment for the long-term support of this very unique and important program. In addition to their generous funding, members of the Charter Oak team will also participate in various activities to get the camp facilities ready for the season and we are all looking forward to this wonderful new partnership.”
