Library invites public to join its Altered Book Art project

To celebrate the Mark Twain Library’s 50th Annual Labor Day Book Fair, artists and creative book lovers are invited to take a discarded book and transform it into a work of art.

There are several boxes of books in the library entry for the taking for this Altered Book Art project. These are books that would not be sold at the fair because they are too old, worn, etc. The landfill also has an abundance of books for the taking.

There is no fee to participate in this project, but “art” should be delivered to the library on July 31 between 10 and noon. The artwork will be on display at the library during the month of August.
