Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut is still feeling the pinch of people tightening their budgets during these challenging times. Donations to Goodwill are not keeping up with the increased need for Goodwill’s employment services as well as the increased demand for low cost merchandise, especially house wares, the organization said in its release.
“More shoppers than ever have been coming to Goodwill stores to stretch the value of their dollar. As college students prepare to furnish rooms and apartments, the demand is expected to get even greater.”
Goodwill retail stores “are in urgent need of household items, dishes, small appliances, cookware and electrical items. The sale of donations through Goodwill’s 15 retail stores translates into employment assistance, job training and other programs for the community that benefit thousands of people each year. Last year alone, Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut provided services to over 10,000 people in need,” the release said.
Donors may drop off items at local Goodwill stores and attended donation centers located at many locations throughout Connecticut, including Redding’s recycling center off Hopewell Woods Road.
