Library book fair opens on Sept. 3

Thousands of books will be for sale at the Mark Twain Library’s 50th Annual Book Fair.

Opening day is Friday, Sept. 3, from 9 to 5 , and all items are priced as marked. Traditionally, book dealers from across the country attend the fair on this day — some even spending the night before in the parking lot just for the opportunity to get first dibs on the vast collection.

On Saturday, Sept. 4, the book fair will be open from 9 to 5 and books will be sold for the prices they are marked. On Sunday, Sept. 5, the fair is open from 9 to 5 , and all items are half the price marked. And on Labor Day, Sept. 6, the fair will be open from 9 to 1. This is “bag day,” where for just $5, customers can fill a bag full of as many books as they can squeeze in.

Volunteers are still needed for the fair. Ginny Beasley, volunteer coordinator, may be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Refreshments will be available for sale courtesy of local Girl Scouts and credit cards are welcomed. All proceeds benefit the Mark Twain Library.
