Reddingite Lisa Bunce, a registered dietitian and nutrition consultant, is the coach of the upcoming Cholesterol Challenge program organized by the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association.
The RVNA Cholesterol Challenge will begin Thursday, Sept. 16, and run every Thursday morning until Oct. 21 at the RVNA office at 90 East Ridge, Ridgefield. There will be two one-hour sessions: 9 to 10 or 10 to 11. The cost is $90.
Cholesterol tests are optional and at the participant’s expense. RVNA will supply the onsite location, free blood pressure checks, weigh-ins and free course workbook.
While it is an RVNA Cholesterol Challenge, personal goals may vary. They may include reducing blood pressure, learning about healthy eating, losing weight, decreasing BMI or just a general lifestyle makeover. Participants are invited to enjoy the group support while receiving the counsel and expertise of a professional dietitian.
Participants will receive general meal planning and diet recommendations and advice on heart healthy principles; incorporating healthy dietary fats; ways to increase fiber in one’s diet and developing an exercise program for life. Also, the program will dispel diet myths and offer advice on the appropriate use of vitamins and supplements.
To register, call Eloise Barron, coordinator of quality living at home, at 203-438-5555, ext. 1005.
