The next entrant in the royal rumble known as the 2010 U.S. Senate race could well be World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) CEO Linda McMahon.
In a statement recently released by WWE, it was revealed that the Greenwich resident is “considering” a run for the seat against sitting U.S. Senator Chris Dodd, a longtime Democratic incumbent considered vulnerable for the first time in years. Ms. McMahon did not specify if the run is being considered for the Republican nomination or as an independent, but Ms. McMahon is a registered Republican.

State Senator Dan Debicella of Shelton announced this week he would run for Connecticut’s 4th District congressional seat against U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, a Democrat, in the 2010 election.
Debicella, a Republican, said he decided to run two weeks ago when Republican state Sen. John McKinney of Fairfield announced he was dropping out of consideration for family reasons. He joins Will Gregory, a 24-year-old newcomer from New Canaan, in seeking his party’s nomination.

Vowing to “carry the torch for Yankee conservatives,” William Gregory, a 24-year-old New Canaan resident, officially entered the race Aug. 3 to challenge Connecticut’s 4th District incumbent Democratic Congressman Jim Himes.
“Right now we’re leading the pack and proud to be doing it,” said Mr. Gregory of his team’s position in a recently emptied field of opposition. “We’re going to be the people to lead the way for the Republican Party and begin reclaiming seats in New England.”
