No one can honestly dispute that the Redding public schools are one of the crown jewels of our town. By almost any measure, they are performing at extremely high levels of achievement and are among the best in the state. Whether you look at formative assessments, standardized tests or talk to teachers, parents and administrators, you know that our schools are meeting our high standards.
This kind of performance does not happen by accident. The current Board of Education, comprised of talented members with very strong qualifications, has done the hard work necessary to produce these results. We’ve established a strong curriculum and ensured that it’s being implemented in each classroom. We’ve leveraged technology, including Smart Boards in every classroom, to ensure our talented teachers have the tools they need. We’ve encouraged innovation and experimentation. And we’ve established the right priorities for performance and found ways to fund those priorities.
Others want to cut budgets and increase class sizes. Please don’t put at risk our schools and our children’s future educational opportunities.
Instead, I respectfully request your vote so that I can continue the hard work necessary for our continued success.
Mr. Miller is a Democrat.
