Clifton E. Palmer, 81, longtime Redding resident, died Nov. 16, 2009 at New Milford Hospital. Mr. Palmer, 81, was the husband of Dorothy Palmer of New Milford.
Born July 21, 1928, in Redding, he was the son of Clifton E. and Elizabeth Palmer. He served in the Pacific during World War II in the Army Air Corp. He operated his own insurance business and was a longtime employee of Barden in Danbury. He also served as fire chief of the Redding Volunteer Fire Department.Tuesday, 10 November 2009 16:15
William Edwin Prindle, Jr., who lived in Redding for 25 years, died on Nov. 8, 2009, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Randolph, N.J.
Born in New Haven, on March 13, 1917, he grew up along the Connecticut shore, where he developed a love of the water, and crewed or captained a number of sailing vessels, including the historic Alden Schooner True Love, featured in the movie High Society.

A memorial celebration for Mary Travers, the Mary in the Peter, Paul and Mary folk trio, is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at Riverside Church in New York at 7 p.m.
Ms. Travers, who called Redding home for many years, died Sept. 16 of cancer. She, along with Peter Yarrow and Noel “Paul” Stookey are noted for their songs like Blowin’ in the Wind, Where Have All the Flowers Gone? and If I Had A Hammer.Wednesday, 28 October 2009 13:29
Mary Elizabeth Manypenny, a former resident of Redding, died at her home in Stratford, on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009. Mrs. Manypenny, 93, was the widow of Gerald Manypenny.

Harry Carlson, 85, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, died on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Carlson, 85, was the husband of Mabel (Tanner) Carlson.

Elizabeth “Betty” Poggenburg died on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. Mrs. Poggenburg was the widow of J. Kenneth Poggenburg, Sr.
She was born Oct. 20, 1908 in New York City, where she taught in elementary schools there for 39 years. She was a longtime resident of Redding and recently of Meadow Ridge.|
