Memorial set for Mary Travers

A memorial celebration for Mary Travers, the Mary in the Peter, Paul and Mary folk trio, is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 9, at Riverside Church in New York at 7 p.m.

Ms. Travers, who called Redding home for many years, died Sept. 16 of cancer. She, along with Peter Yarrow and Noel “Paul” Stookey are noted for their songs like Blowin’ in the Wind, Where Have All the Flowers Gone? and If I Had A Hammer.

According to the New York Times, participants in the celebration include Pete Seeger, Judy Collins, Tom Paxton, Anne Meara, Eli Wallach, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Moyers, Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts and former Senators George S. McGovern and Max Cleland.

The memorial service is open to the public. Tickets will be available the day of the memorial on a first come, first served basis. Half of the seats will be reserved for invited guests.
