Scrambling for four-year seats on the school board are three Republicans — two incumbents and a former chairman — and three Democratic challengers.
Voters may select up to four of the six, and four will be elected. There’s a separate one-on-one race for a two-year school seat.

For Zoning Board of Appeals there is one contested race, with two construction industry professionals, Republican Duane Barney and Democrat Sky Cole, competing for a two-year vacancy. There are also uncontested candidates on the ballot for two five-year seats on the board and two ZBA alternate positions.
Mr. Barney, who has filled a vacancy on the board for the last year, is project executive with Brenner Builders of Bedford, N.Y., where he has worked since 1995, after 25 years in construction management. He is a graduate of the University of Florida.

Three candidates — Democratic-backed write-in candidate Heidi Namiot, Republicans Marty Heiser and Jill Bornstein — are competing for two seats on the Board of Finance.
Marty Heiser, the only incumbent in the race, has served some 15 years on the finance board, many of them as chairman. He owns the painting contractor Service Unlimited, hosts and produces a local cable TV show, and is a member of the Republican Town committee. He serves on the boards of Young Life and The Boys and Girls Club.
Jill Bornstein is a former vice president of finance at GE Capital where she was on the audit staff for five years. She is treasurer of the Republican Town Committee and has volunteered with the Landmark School PTA, as a coach and a board member for the Soccer Club of Ridgefield, and the Ridgefield Aquatic Club.

Familiar names fill the ballot for Police Commission, where three Republican incumbents — Susan Craig, Carl Lecher and Tom Reynolds — are being challenged by Joseph Adams, a Democrat and former Police Commission member.
Voters may cast ballots for up to three, and three of four will be elected.
Mr. Adams, served on the Police Commission from 1991 to 1995. He has worked as a chemist, in sales for the data management industry, and is now a paraprofessional for the schools helping special education students. He is also on the town’s Commission for the Disabled. He has served 11 years as a 911 dispatcher in Norwalk and Redding.

A two-year Board of Education seat this year is determined by a separate head-to-head contest between incumbent Republican Sandi Rose and Democrat Charles Primerano, who serves on the town’s Charter Revision Commission.
Ms. Rose has been a school board member since 2001 and is a former president of the Council of PTAs. She has worked as a paraprofessional in the elementary and middle schools, as the school system’s volunteer coordinator, and now works as a Realtor.

My name is John Palermo. I am currently on the Board of Education (BOE) and am seeking your support for re-election. I have been a Ridgefield resident for nearly 32 years. I have 3 children, Marisa 13, Reed 12, and Angela 11. I believe that my leadership skills make me uniquely qualified to serve on the BOE.
