Swine flu vaccine has arrived; VNA takes appointments

The RVNA has received a shipment of H1N1 vaccine this week.

Both injectable and intranasal doses are now available.

The priority groups that can receive the intranasal vaccine now include healthy children aged 24 months through 18 years, healthy household contacts and caregivers of infants who are under 49 years old and healthy healthcare workers and EMS personnel.

The inactivated injectable vaccines can be administered to pregnant women, caregivers of infants under six months, all children six months through 4 years and children age 5 through 18 years with high risk medical conditions.

Evening clinics on Nov. 10, 12 and 17 are by appointment only. To make an appointment call 431-2567 between 9 a.m. and noon. (Do not call the main RVNA line.)
