Business Update: Children's Cottage moves, Kristen's Marche changes, Harrington joins, dentists collect

Children’s Cottage moves because it needs more space

The Children’s Cottage designer consignment boutique is moving to a new downtown location, under Practically Green at 23 Catoonah Street, with a grand opening Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The store will remain open at the present 409 Main Street location through Saturday Oct. 31. Owner Maura Sullivan said the economy has boosted business and the store needs the larger space on Catoonah Street.

Kristen’s Marche to become Main Street Home

Kristen’s Marche is becoming Main Street Home Design & Consignment, a boutique blending the new with the old.

“Our goal is to provide unique, one-of-a-kind items to compliment our extensive list of vendors,” said owner Kristen Gioffre. “Main Street Home will appeal to the trade as well as the savvy shopper. We will be looking for items that offer value and have a distinctive style. Now we can help you sell your items, as well as re-upholster them. It was a natural transition.”

Ms. Gioffre said, “We have been selling our clients items for years, so why not do it for others. Now we will be able to offer a wider selection of merchandise, while still providing complete design services to bring it all together. Consumers will love the hunt, at Main Street Home. New items will be arriving daily, so be sure to stop in frequently or you may miss finding that “gem.”

The store will be the exclusive dealer of the Bramble Collection (see Brambleco.com). irst shipment is scheduled to arrive the beginning of November.

Dentists plan candy buy-back

Dr. Dana C. Jones is again inviting trick-or-treaters to bring their excess candy to his Danbury Road dentistry practice and receive $1 for every pound donated. Joining Dr. Jones this year in this anti-cavity tradition are Dr. Michael Pizzo and Dr. Jay Martin. All three doctors will be giving away money and glowing electric toothbrushes in exchange for candy.

While cutting back on the sweets is the prime motive for the candy collection, Dr. Jones said, the group will also be teaming up with the Army National Guard’s Operation Gratitude and sending collected candy to American military personnel serving abroad.

“Last year we collected more than 200 pounds of candy. We know this gives Ridgefield children a chance to not only feel they’re working towards better hygiene for themselves, but that they’re doing something to support our men and women serving overseas as well,” said Dr. Jones.

Each of the doctor’s offices will have a giant greeting card for kids to sign, which will be included in the outgoing shipments.

Donations may be made on Tuesday, Nov. 3, between 8 and 5, to Dr. Jones’s office at 162 Danbury Road, Dr. Pizzo’s office at 42 Danbury Road and Dr. Martin’s office at 158 Danbury Road.

Boehringer launches Viramune Rebate

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has begun the Viramune (nevirapine) tablets/oral suspension Co-Pay Savings Program, a special program that will allow patients to save up to $50 on their health insurance co-payment on every monthly refill of a Viramune prescription for up to one year.

Any patient with a Viramune prescription who has health insurance coverage requiring a patient co-payment is eligible for the program.

A feature of the program is the use of a MasterCard debit card that is solely dedicated to the purchase of a Viramune prescription, which can be used at any pharmacy that accepts MasterCard. The up to $50 rebate will be credited to the patient at the point-of-purchase as quickly as any MasterCard transaction.

“There is a growing reliance by patients on co-pay and patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies and this rebate program makes it easier for HIV/AIDS patients to benefit,” said Albert Ros, executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Initiatives to ease the financial burden of health insurance co-payment for HIV/AIDS patients such as this one underscore our commitment to helping patients obtain the care and treatment they need.”

Patients can obtain the Viramune Co-Pay Savings Card through their healthcare providers. Patients need to activate their card by calling a toll-free hotline at 1-888-99-Viramune (1-888-998-4726) or logging onto viramune.com.

In addition, as part of the activation process patients can also enroll to receive free educational information and support from the Vlife on Therapy program.
