Ridgefield resident Julie Hopkins’ pastel painting “Big Fish…” was juried into the American Women Artists’ National Juried Competition (AWA’s) 2009, which is currently on exhibit at the South Street Art Gallery, Easton, Md., the AWA’s first East Coast exhibition.
This year’s competition attracted more than 700 two- and three-dimensional entries across all media and genres, from which a panel of three judges selected 63 finalists.
The show runs through Nov. 8.Founded in 1990 in Tucson, Ariz., AWA is a group of professional, acclaimed women artists dedicated to the inspiration, celebration and encouragement of women in the visual arts.
