RHS field hockey team falls in FCIAC playoffs

Second-seed New Canaan defeated seventh-seed Ridgefield, 1-0, in an FCIAC quarterfinal field hockey game Friday night in New Canaan.

The Tigers (8-6-1-1) will now await seedings and pairings for the state tournament.

New Canaan's Betsy Hart scored the game's only goal 10:32 into the first half following a penalty corner.

The Rams (13-2-1) will now play third-seed Greenwich in the semifinals on Tuesday. Top-seed Darien and fourth-seed Wilton will meet in the other semifinal.

New Canaan had beaten Ridgefield, 4-1, during the regular season.
