The Ridgefield High boys and girls soccer teams both advanced to the FCIAC semifinals with opening-round playoff wins Saturday at Tiger Hollow.
The top-seeded RHS girls defeated eighth-seed Staples, 3-2, in overtime. The Tigers (15-1-1) will now face sixth-seed Fairfield Ludlowe in Monday's semifinals at Wilton High at 7.
Ludlowe handed Ridgefield its only loss of the season with a 1-0 triumph on Oct. 21.Second-seed New Canaan meets fourth-seed Greenwich in the first semifinal at 5 on Monday in Wilton.
The RHS boys also advanced with a 3-1 quarterfinal win over Stamford on Saturday. The second-seeded Tigers (12-3-1) will face third-seed Bridgeport Central at 7 on Monday at 7 at Fairfield Ludlowe.
Ridgefield and Central tied, 1-1, during the regular season.
Top-seed Staples plays fourth-seed Greenwich in the other semifinal on Monday at 5 at Ludlowe.
