Girls soccer: RHS, New Canaan play to 0-0 tie in FCIAC finals

Ridgefield and New Canaan were declared co-champs after they played to a 0-0 tie in the FCIAC girls soccer championship game Wednesday night in Norwalk.

The game remained scoreless though regulation and two 10-minute overtimes.

New Canaan had a first-half goal disallowed because of offsides.

Ridgefield (16-1-2) was seeded first and New Canaan second in the eight-team field.

The Tigers had beaten New Canaan, 3-1, in the final game of the regular season last Thursday.

Ridgefield was making its first trip to the FCIAC finals since 1996. The Tigers were also named co-champs that year after playing Trumbull to a tie.
