Thursday, Nov. 12

Parent education symposium, 7 to 8:30 p.m., all school parents are invited to a program called “The Edge in Education: 21st Century Learning in Weston,” presented by Weston educators, at Weston Intermediate School cafetorium.

Friday, Nov. 13

Stage Door, a play performed by Company theater group, 8 p.m., at Weston High School. Tickets are $6 for students/seniors and $10 for adults, and will be sold at the door.

Saturday, Nov. 14

Norfield Nursery School benefit, 11:30 to 1:30, at the parish hall at Norfield Church. Featuring entertainer Amy Rogell, arts and crafts, snacks, and games. $15 per family, proceeds benefit the nursery school and scholarship fund.

Documentary film screening, 8 p.m., Weston Public Library. An art film on the ephemeral sculpture of naturalist Andy Goldsworth, Rivers and Tides, will be shown. Free. Call 222-2590 for more details. Sponsored by the Weston Commission for the Arts.

Monday, Nov. 16

Community Drum Circle, 7:30 p.m. at the Norfield Grange, 12 Goodhill Road. An uplifting evening playing hand drums with facilitator Randy Brody. Relieve stress and have fun at the area’s longest running drum circle. No experience necessary. Drums provided, or bring your own. $15, $5 seniors and kids under 12. Tuesday, Nov. 17

Symposium, 21st Century Strategies for Job Seekers over 40, 9:30 a.m., Weston Public Library. Christine Stevenson, career development specialist for the CT Department of Labor, will discuss special issues impacting competition faced by this age group as well as exploring the changing expectations of employers today. Particularly helpful for anyone looking to re-enter the job market after a hiatus. Bring résumés for review. Sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library.

Thursday, Nov. 19

Lunch and Learn series, noon to 1:30 at the Weston Public Library. Pulitzer prize-winning novelist and journalist, Phillip Caputo, will discuss his latest book, “Crossers,” which deals with the complexities of the immigration problems in this country including illegal-immigrant smuggling and drugs. Bring a bag lunch, beverages and dessert provdied. Sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library.
