Two of the three major primary races Tuesday were settled before 10 p.m.
Linda McMahon was declared winner of the Republican U.S. Senate primary by 9:53 p.m., defeating challengers Peter Schiff and Rob Simmons. And former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy claimed the Democratic gubernatorial nomination when Greenwich millionaire Ned Lamont conceded around 9:45 p.m.
By 11 p.m., Tom Foley was declared the winner of the Republican Governor nomination over Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele 43% to 38%, with Oz Griebel taking 19% of the vote, according to the Associated Press.
Dan Debicella won a three-way Republican primary to challenge Democratic incumbent Jim Himes in the 4th Congressional District, collecting some 65% of the vote.
Nancy Wyman, Malloy’s running mate, led Mary Glassman, running with Lamont, in the Democratic primary for lieutant governor, 64% to 36%, with 72% of precincts reporting around 10:30 p.m.
In the Republican race for lieutentant governor, Mark Boughton held a 53% to 47% lead over Lisa Wilson-Foley with 73% of precints in.
In the Republican primary for attorney general, endorsed candidate Martha Dean had 60% of the vote over challenger Ross Garber with 72% of the vote in.
Kevin Lembo, endorsed Democratic candidate for comptroller, held a commanding 71% to 29% lead over Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura with 73% of precincts reporting, according to AP.
Former House Majority Leader Denise Merrill was ahead of challenger Gerry Garcia in the Democratic primary for secretary of the state, 64% to 36%, with 72% of precincts tallied.
