Weston's Evergreen Ball: Ticket orders due soon

The Evergreen Ball, sponsored by the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program of Weston (ADAP), will be held on Nov. 21 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Temple Israel in Westport. The final date to RSVP with signed contracts and ticket donation is Nov. 9. Chaperones are still needed.

The Evergreen Ball has been a Weston High School tradition for more than 30 years. While juniors and seniors have a prom, this dance started so that freshmen and sophomores could have their own event. This semiformal evening ushers in the holidays as a safe social event.

The Evergreen Ball is for Weston freshmen and sophomores only, including those who attend schools other than WHS. Invitations have been mailed.

Since there are no available records of freshmen and sophomores in private schools, contact ADAP at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if an eligible student did not receive an invitation by mail.

If a student is bringing a guest, their contract and payment are to be sent along with the invited student’s contract and payment. Contracts are available from the ADAP Web site at www.westonadap.org.

Breathalyzer tests are given to everyone entering the dance.

Due to space limitations, only 300 students may be admitted. Tickets are sold on a first come, first sold basis and students are urged to return their ticket requests promptly as the dance is often sold out.

The $45 contribution to ADAP for attending the dance is not refundable. Additional voluntary contributions are welcome. ADAP is a non-profit organization and community donations help fund the ADAP Youth Leadership Council, Red Ribbon Week, pre-prom assemblies, educational programs and dances such as these.

Chaperones are needed. This is a great opportunity for parents (especially those of middle school students) to see how high school students interact. Those interested in being a chaperone may contact Olga Kunevsky at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
