Weston hosts conference for justices of the peace

Weston Town Clerk Donna Anastasia will host an educational conference for Connecticut justices of the peace (JPs) on Saturday morning, Nov. 7, at Weston Town Hall. The meeting is sponsored by the Justice of the Peace Association whose founders, Saul Haffner and Barbara Jay, live in Westport.

The program will feature talks by Stamford JP Kurt Zimbler, on Marrying Interfaith Couples, and New Canaan JP Elise Klein, whose topic is Getting (More) Comfortable with Same Sex Ceremonies. Bettie-Jeanne Rivard-Darby, Ellington JP, and Ernest Adams, Ledyard JP, will put on a mock wedding ceremony, demonstrating how personalization, staging and rehearsal can “take the ceremony to the next level.”

The Weston conference is the third this season (Griswold and Barkhamsted hosted the others). This is the fifth consecutive year of the association’s annual conferences.

The program begins at 9 a.m. with continental breakfast available at 8:30.

Justices of the peace may register on the association Web site, www.jpUS.org, or by calling 203-226-1710.
