Weston kindergarten registration is soon

Hurlbutt Elementary School is preparing for the 2010-11 school year. Registration is under way for the incoming kindergartners, the class of 2023. Children who will turn five years of age on or before Jan. 1, 2011, are eligible to begin kindergarten next fall.

Drop-in kindergarten registration will take place in Hurlbutt Elementary School’s South House cafeteria between 1:30 and 2:30 on Monday, Dec. 7, for parents whose last names begin with A-L and on Monday, Dec. 14, for parents whose last names begin with M-Z.

Those unable to attend on either of these days may contact Laurie Eagle at 291-1446.

Registration materials may obtained from the following:

• Child’s current preschool

• On the district Web site, www.westonk12-ct.org

• Hurlbutt Elementary School main office

Materials and documents to bring to registration:

• Completed registration packet

• Proof of residency (e.g., utility bill)

• Copy of child’s birth certificate

Without all of these, the child cannot be registered.

An informational meeting will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010, from 2 to 3 in the South House cafeteria. This will give parents the opportunity to meet the administrators, counselors and teachers, and to learn more about Weston’s kindergarten program.

Although it may seem early for kindergarten registration, the information collected helps administrators to budget accordingly and plan for the next school year.
