Miriam Brightman, Accomplished pianist

Miriam P. Brightman of Southport died on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. She was 95 and the wife of the late Jay Brightman.

Ms. Brightman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Fanny Greenstone. She had been an elementary school teacher in the Albany, N.Y., public school system. Ms. Brightman was an accomplished pianist and was a lifelong learner of all subjects. Most recently, she enjoyed playing bridge at the Westport Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Judith Koffsky of Westport, Joan (Jay) Mendell of Florida, and Leonard Brightman of Southport; her grandchildren, Marcea Koffsky of Norwalk, Bruce and Paula Koffsky of Weston, Dan and Laura Koffsky, Risa and Larry Silverman, and Eden and Steve Thomas, all of Florida; and 10 great-grandchildren.
