The Weston High girls varsity lacrosse team defeated Bethel 12-8 on Thursday to win its first South-West Conference Division II championship.

Weston led 7-4 at halftime only to have Bethel tie things up twice in the time remaining. The Trojans went ahead for good with 14 minutes left to play.

The Weston High boys varsity lacrosse team defeated defending champ Newtown 5-2 in the South-West Conference semfinals on Wednesday at New Fairfield High.

Weston held Newtown to a goal in each of the first two quarters before shutting down its opponent in the second half.

Boys tennis: Trojans take league title

The Weston Hgh boys tennis team won its second straight South-West Conference championship and ninth in 10 seasons by beating Newtown 6-1 on Tuesday. Due to weather, the match was moved indoors to the Tennis Club of Trumbull.

The Weston High girls varsity lacrosse team defeated Masuk in the South-West Conference Division II semfinal game at home on Tuesday.

Lindsay Koch led the way for the Trojans with four goals. Frances Holmes followed with three and also had an assist.

Boys lacrosse: Trojans trounce Panthers

The Weston High boys lacrosse team cruised to a 10-1 victory over Masuk in the South-West Conference quarterfinals on Monday.

Both teams battled to a 1-1 tie at halftime before the Trojans' attack came to life in the second, scoring nine straight goals.

Boys track: Weston is fifth in league

The Weston High boys track team placed fifth overall in a field of 14 teams with 60.5 points (a half a point behind Bethel) at the South-West Conference finals on Monday.

Bunnell was first with 108.5. New Fairfield, which was disqualified in the final event, was runner-up with 98.6666, followed by Newtown with 97.

Weston earned a number of medals, including the silver in the 4x800 relay with Noah Krassin, Brad DeMarco, Cole Clark and David Stankiewicz finishing second in eight minutes, 15.74 seconds.

The Weston High girls track team came on strong later in the meet to capture its seventh straight title at the South-West Conference finals on Monday with 102.5 points, a half a point ahead of runner-up New Milford.

Weston High baseball players and Little Leaguers lined up on the field for a moment of silence in memory of Adam Wysota before the start of a varsity game against Oxford at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport on May 12.
