Girls swimming: Seniors get a winning sendoff

The final home meet of the regular season was harder than expected for the Weston High girls swim team.

Hosting Masuk last Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Trojans took first place in all but two events but the Panthers kept things close by claiming other spots in a number of events. The Trojans built up their lead in the last few events for a 104-84 win on Senior Night.

In the opening event, the 200 medley relay, the Trojans took an early lead, with Katie Angelidis, Olivia Clark, Catie Ledwick and Shelby Fortin taking first place in 2:03.31. Lydia Sykes, Lucy Watson, Lauren Solinsky and Lauren Garner finished third with a time of 2:13.14.

Victoria Arel placed first in the 200 free in 2:04.98 seconds, while Tess Maggio (2:26.87) was fifth. In the 200 IM, Charlotte Berger took fourth in 2:43.19 seconds, and Solinsky and Watson was fifth in 2:48.13
