The Weston boys under-11 blue travel soccer team played a superb team- oriented game on Sunday against FUSA Fairfield. Weston won the match 5-2 but it could have easily scored more had the team not focus on defense in the second half. Weston responded well and cleverly used the time to its advantage. It got off to a good start with a goal from Nikholas Parker and later Fairfield was caught red handed with a violation in which Weston was awarded a penalty kick. Murray Riach calmly took the shot past the left side of the Fairfield goalie for a 2-1 Weston lead.A few minutes later, Parker scored again on an assist from Quentin Catalano. Fairfield gave Weston a scare as it scored again to make it 3-2. Just as Weston started to feel the pressure, Parker took the ball down the right side line and kicked a line kick to the middle of the goal and Daniel Valentine maneuvered around a couple of players to score.
Weston’s last goal came on a breakaway by Parker as he took the ball all the way until he was five yards away and then passed to a trailing Quentin Catalano, who nailed the goal to make the score final at 5-2.
