Coat/book drive — Nichols Improvement Association (NIA) youth community service group, Nichols Kids Care, is collecting gently used winter coats and children’s books Friday, 4-7; Saturday, 9-3, NIA Starkweather House, 1775 Huntington Tpke.; nicholsct.org. Booth Hill

The Student Council Food Drive ends tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 20. Donated canned goods and other non-perishable food items will be sent to the Salvation Army of Greater Bridgeport.

Tomorrow is Donate a Dollar to Wear a Hat Day at BHS. Student Council Members will use the proceeds to shop for toys and other items needed at the Bridgeport Hospital PT Barnum Pediatrics Center.

Trumbull High School Coat Drive is underway. Gently used coats may be dropped off in the BHS lobby until Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Long Hill Baptist Church, 100 Middlebrooks Ave., is inviting residents to a chili cook-off Saturday at 1 at the church.

Residents should prepare their chili beforehand and bring it to the church hall for judging by a panel of experieced chili tasters. Bring plenty to share.

The Trumbull Monroe Health District will be conducting an H1N1 presentation at the Trumbull Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16 in the Merwin Room.
