Police arrested two Sacred Heart students after a resident’s complaint of a loud party on Garland Circle led to the discovery of dozens of underage partyers and numerous items of drug paraphernalia, police said.
The call, which came in at 11:34 p.m. on Halloween, said there were numerous young people walking through yards around the neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found a large gathering at 26 Garland Circle, and reported seeing scores of beer cans discarded on the ground around the home, police said.Once police arrived, the partyers began to scatter. Fearful that they would take to the road after drinking, officers detained as many of them as they could. Meanwhile, inside the house, other officers said that about 50 people, most of whom appeared to be under the legal drinking age, had gathered and appeared to have been playing beer pong.
Several beer kegs and about 100 empty cans were strewn about, along with a marijuana “blunt” cigar and a glass pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana, police said.
No one admitted to being the party’s hosts, but officers eventually determined that Leshon Hill, 18, and Jon Gammon, 20, both Sacred Heart University students, lived at the house and had hosted a Halloween party. They gave police permission to search the rest of the house, and officers reported finding several more kegs. In one bedroom, police said they found a heat lamp and five clay pots with marijuana plants growing in them.
Officers also found a bong, another glass pipe, two bags with marijuana seeds inside, 132 plastic bags with a stylized skull logo on them, 11 clear plastic bags and a pack of cigarette rolling paper.
Hill and Gammon both were charged with illegally cultivating marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of alcohol by a minor and failure to halt possession of alcohol by minors. Bond was $1,000 for court Nov. 13.
