"Get up. Get out. Get moving!" is the theme of the 2012 Winter-Spring semester of Wilton Continuing Education. The brochures, according to program coordinator Dolores Tufariello, was mailed to Wilton households last week.

Among the more than 170 classes to explore, Wilton Continuing Education is unveiling more than 20 new programs this semester to meet demand from the community. Aside from SAT prep and driver's ed for students, there are new high-tech courses focusing on the how-tos of hand-held devices and navigating the Internet.

"We are offering many more courses on hand-held electronic devices, which have become a lifestyle necessity," said Ms. Tufariello. "Both basic and advanced computer courses are offered throughout the semester, which extends through June."

There are also courses on chocolates with fine wines and aperitifs, pairing wines with cheeses, cake decorating, and cooking gourmet style; ballroom dancing from beginner to intermediate; Zumba; digital nature photography; selling on eBay, creative writing, drawing and ceramics; even a one-session, two-hour class on collaborative divorce, a process that, the brochure says, "has emerged as a national and international movement to bring honesty and integrity to the divorce process."

"We are especially excited to offer a class on geocaching this semester," said Ms. Tufariello. Geocaching is an outdoor high-tech cross between a scavenger hunt and hide-n-seek, where participants use their handheld devices to track down caches hidden at various GPS coordinates. The game, according to the brochure, is played on seven continents.

Other classes include aromatherapy, a running clinic, Friday morning French cooking classes, fencing, beekeeping, yoga and a variety of other fitness classes. There's knitting, quilting and jewelry making; woodworking, gardening and landscape design; coaching on how to meditate or improve memory and how to navigate through the grocery store to lose weight.

Classes are held at various locations throughout the Wilton public school system or at local business sites in Wilton, Ridgefield and Norwalk. For a preview and to register, visit wiltoncontinuinged.org to review course offerings at any time during the year.
