Ingrid Tobiassen, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on Monday, Oct. 19, in Wilton. She was the wife for 62 years of Thor R. Tobiassen, with whom she resided in Sinking Spring, Pa. She was 86.Born in Time, Norway, on Aug. 8, 1923, the youngest daughter of Ingebrett and Taletta Loge, Ingrid was the last surviving member of her family of two brothers and three sisters.
Ingrid and Thor Tobiassen were married in Norway in 1948, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1962, living in Connecticut until they retired in 1987. They returned to live in Norway for 10 years before settling in South Carolina, and Pennsylvania near their daughter.
Surviving in addition to her husband is their son, Raymond Tobiassen, his wife Maryann of Wilton, and their daughters, Kristin Tobiassen of LaVerne, Calif., and Melissa and her husband Matthew West, also of LaVerne, Calif. Also surviving is their daughter Irene Batluck and her husband Joe, of Mohrsville, Pa., and their children and spouses, Joe and Heike Batluck of Newport News, Va., Mark and Carmela Batluck of Edinburgh, Scotland, Rachel and Paul Elliott of Lake Dallas, Texas, and Sarah and Ron Taylor of Ft. Bragg, N.C. Surviving great-grandchildren are Noah, Ethan, Emma and Samuel Batluck of Newport News, Va.
“Although she will be greatly missed, we rest in the assurance, found in Jesus Christ, that we will all be reunited someday in heaven,” family members said.
A memorial service will be held on Oct. 28 in Norwalk at Parkway Assembly of God Church at 11 am.
Bouton Funeral Home on West Church Street handled arrangements.
