Nora V. Castillo, a resident of Wilton for 33 years, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 3, at her home.
She was born April 23, 1934, in San Jose, Costa Rica, and was the daughter of Francisco Zuniga and Dolores Salas.
After graduating from nursing school, she worked and devotedly took care of the children at The National Children’s Hospital of Costa Rica for 20 years, her family said.
Mrs. Castillo moved with her husband and children to Wilton in 1976. She started taking care of the sisters at The Congregation of Notre Dame in Ridgefield until a head-on collision left her quadriplegic and ventilator dependent in 2003, her family said.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Marcelino and her children, Albert Castillo of Wilton, Gustavo Castillo of Brewster, N.Y., and daughter Nora Sancho of Wilton; as well as 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Luis Fernando Castillo, 44, a year after her accident and a granddaughter, Christina Castillo, 22.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 8.
