The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, at 258 Main Street, Ridgefield, showcases the best works of modern artists, in a modern museum. Founded in 1964 by designer Larry Aldrich, the museum had its beginnings in the 18th Century structure known as “Old Hundred,” now space for the museum’s administrative offices. One of the permanent installations in museum is a camera obscura, which invites visitors to see Main Street projected on the wall of the small gallery. The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, noon to 5; admission is $7 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. Children 18 and under are admitted free. Among the spring shows are
The Photograph as Canvas, David Abir’s sound installation,
Tekrar, Michael Schumacher and Elana Herzog’s sight-and-sound exhibit,
W(E)AVE; Arturor Herrera's
Castles, Dwarfs and Happychaps; Kysa Johnson's
Blow Ups—Spores, Pollen and Pollutants; and Dario Robleto's
Chrysanthemum Anthems. All run into June, Herrera’s through summer.
