Center for crafts
Jul 16, 2007
Brookfield Craft Center is a non-profit school and gallery for fine craftsmanship. The center is considered one of the finest non-academic schools for creative study in America and it’s a wonderful place to discover what fine craftsmen can create. The school, for adults, offers day, evening and weekend workshops with visiting artists on more than 300 topics. Besides traditional subjects such as ceramics, weaving, jewelry making, woodworking, blacksmithing, stained glass, photography, and decorative arts, the center offers business and marketing for artists, home restoration and design concepts. The center offers scholarship programs plus a work/study program. The Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery is open daily (Monday-Saturday, 10-5, and Sunday, 12-5) and presents regular exhibits by some of the country’s best known craft artists. The Multiples Gallery offers craft artists' work for sale. Coming up is the June 3 Bowlfest fund-raiser, where each guest takes home an artist-crafted wooden, glass or ceramic bowl.
