Hands-on exhibits
Jul 13, 2007
At the Discovery Museum, youngsters are encouraged to reach out and touch many of the exhibits. This is not just a place to go to see things. Instead, the Bridgeport museum on Park Avenue is totally interactive, involving see-hear-touch exploration of the arts and sciences in 115 exhibits. Many of the special exhibits that visit the Discovery Museum are also hands-on and there are also fine art exhibits in one of the galleries. The Challenger Learning Center has special programs to explore space travel and the Henry duPont III Planetarium offers several shows daily. The Discovery Museum shows short films in its High Definition Cinema. The museum hosts programs for schools, scouts and other groups. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 5, and Sunday, noon to 5; closed major holidays; open Mondays, 10 to 5, during July and August. Admission is $8.50 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, free for under 5 years. There are summer programs for kids 5-12, some with extended-day options.
