100 Things to Do
Maritime Aquarium

Jul 16, 2007

The Maritime Aquarium at 10 North Water Street in South Norwalk is where visitors may enjoy the antics of harbor seals and river otters, watch sharks or loggerhead turtles, or wonder at the beauty of jellyfish floating in their tanks. Exhibits are devoted to the creatures and habitats and history of Long Island Sound and its fishery. The setting is along the bank of the Norwalk River, and Marine Life Study Cruises can extend visitors’ experiences out onto Long Island Sound (weekends at 1, spring and fall; daily at 1 during the summer).  The special exhibit, Adventure Under the Sea, includes a Sponge Bob Square Pants 4D adventure ride (admission $5.50). The IMAX theater has a multi-story screen with a sound system matching the huge visual impact. The Maritime Aquarium is open daily, 10 to 5. Admission is $11, adults, $10, seniors, and $9, children 2-12. With a Value Pass ($21.50, $20, $17.50), visitors may include a daytime IMAX feature film and the Sponge Bob Square Pants adventure ride.
