New Haven Cutters

Mike Church will return for a third season as manager of the New Haven County Cutters, who play in the independent CanAm League against teams from Atlantic City, Brockton, Mass., Nashua, N.H., Montclair, N.J., Lynn, Mass., Quebec, Sussex, N.J., and Worcester, Mass. Last year’s Cutters had the second-best record in the league, playing at Historic Yale Field where the New Haven Ravens formerly played. There are 52 home games during a season that runs from May 25 through Sept. 3. Games at 7:05 from Monday through Saturday and at 1:05 on Sundays; ticket prices range from $12.95 to $5.95 for day-of-game purchases. Like all minor league franchises, the Cutters are family-friendly and offer frequent special events and promotions. Coming this summer are Jana, the Native American singer; Oil Can Boyd’s Traveling All-Stars; and lots of fireworks. Sundays are Family Fun Days, when kids eat free and get to run the bases after the game.
