Paper and Prints
|
The Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk’s Mathews Park is a haven for working artists, who may rent a studio or darkroom, or take a class. Set in a restored 19th Century stone carriage house, the non-profit multi-media workshop and gallery is devoted to the creation and exhibition of original prints, photographs, artists’ books, paper works and related disciplines. Visiting master printers are available to work with students using the center’s intaglio and lithographic presses, a Vandercook press, an acid room, silkscreen facilities, a paper-making mill, a darkroom and an exposure table. The center provides a cottage for artists in residence, which includes a studio, workshop, temporary residence and exhibition space. Exhibits are regularly mounted in the center’s gallery, open Monday-Saturday, 9 to 5. Currently on view is the 6th Biennial Miniature Print Exhibition, through May 19; it will be followed by blue print, members’ interpretations of the color blue, June 7-Aug. 11.
