The Garden of Ideas
Right off a busy road in Ridgefield is what many would consider a paradise. The Garden of Ideas has been growing for many years on the Keller property. This demonstration garden and place of inspiration is open to the public on weekends.  Guests are encouraged to linger and enjoy the varying terrain. In the spring, the marsh is a haven for waterfowl and red-winged blackbirds as the awakening landscape blooms. In summer, Joseph Keller and Ilsa Svendsen spend their weekends improving the property, which has both sun and shade plantings. A totally organic operation, the Garden of Ideas includes a raised bed vegetable and herb garden and is interspersed with sculptures by a friend of the owners. Any season is a beautiful time to visit: welcoming gates lead into sitting areas; signs with food for thought are posted along the paths. The garden includes a nursery where the selection comes with the assurance that Joe and Ilsa have found them good to grow here. In summer, fresh produce is available.
