The Katonah Museum of Art creates exhibits that enlighten and elucidate, sometimes focusing on a particular artist or a particular medium, sometimes considering a broad category of cultural interest. The Learning Center and museum shop are open during museum hours; there are drop-in programs on weekends. The museum offers family events and tours of the main exhibition Tuesday through Sunday at 2:30. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 to 5 and Sunday from 12 to 5. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students; it’s free for children under 12 and everyone’s admitted free from 10 to noon. Among the upcoming exhibitions are Younger Artists: Visual Stories, the eighth annual exhibit by area youngsters in the Learning Center. Opening July 1 will be: Children Should Be Seen: The Image of the Child in American Picture-Book Art, with 85 works, a joint project of the Katonah Museum and the Eric Carle Museum of Picture-Book Art in Amherst, Mass.
