21. (PG-13) [for some violence, and sexual content including partial nudity] Ben Campbell is a shy, brilliant M.I.T. student who is recruited to join a group of the school’s most gifted students that heads to Las Vegas every weekend armed with fake identities and the know-how to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. With unorthodox math professor and stats genius Micky Rosa leading the way, they have cracked the code. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signals, the team can beat the casinos big time. Although counting cards isn’t illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos’ menacing enforcer: Cole Williams. Starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne, Jim Sturgess, Jack McGee. Runtime 2:03. 7, 8, 10, 17, 19, 23, 25.
DR. SEUSS’ HORTON HEARS A WHO! (G) An elephant named Horton hears a faint cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Although Horton doesn’t know it yet, that speck houses an entire city named Who-ville, inhabited by the microscopic Whos, led by the Mayor. Despite being ridiculed and threatened by his neighbors, who think he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to save the particle—because “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” Then there’s Horton’s motto, “an elephant’s faithful 100 percent”—pointing to his honesty and determination never to abandon his mission to find a new home for the speck that houses the incredible world of Who-ville. Starring Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Isla Fisher. Runtime 1:28. 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25.

Enter Drillbit Taylor, not the best but definitely the cheapest of the mercenaries, hit men and bodyguards who answer their online ad. Drillbit—who claims to be dangerous and skilled in covert black-ops and exotic martial arts—is a complete fraud. He bluffs and cajoles the trio through his cockamamie boot camp, instilling them with new “skills” and, more importantly, confidence. But, when forced to face Filkin, Drillbit doesn’t measure up. Now, the boys must transform Drillbit into the savior he originally promised to be. Starring Owen Wilson, Alex Frost, Matt Gallini, Troy Gentile, Nate Hartley. Runtime 1:42. 5, 17, 19, 20, 25.

When his team loses its sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star Carter Rutherford to join his ragtag ranks. A golden-boy war hero who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender in WWI, Carter has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. He’s almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton aims to prove that’s the case. A cub reporter, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter’s war story. But, while she digs, the two teammates begin to compete for her fickle affections. Starring George Clooney, Renee Zellweger, John Krasinski, Jonathan Pryce, Ezra Buzzington. When her island is threatened, she reaches out to her hero for help. But, Nim doesn’t know that the acclaimed author of the Rover books is, in fact, Alexandra Rover, a retiring, fainthearted recluse locked away in a big city apartment. Now, both Alexandra and Nim must draw courage from the fictional gallantry of Alex Rover and find strength in one another to save Nim’s Island. After surviving a horrible tragedy, she has finally moved on. Three years earlier, Donna was the only survivor of a murderous rampage by Richard Fenton, a teacher obsessed with her innocent beauty. Donna’s testimony put Fenton in a maximum security asylum for the criminally insane. Now, surrounded by her best friends, she should be safe from the horrors of her past. But, when the night turns deadly, there is only one person who could be responsible—Fenton. Donna and her friends must escape the sadistic rampage of this obsessed killer and survive a night “to die for.” Starring Brittany Snow, Brianne Davis, Kellan Lutz, Kelly Blatz, Andrew Fiscella. As the group’s vacation nears its end, they journey into the lush Mexican jungle in hopes of seeing some ancient Mayan ruins. SMART PEOPLE. (R) [for language, brief teen drug and alcohol use, and for some sexuality] Professor Lawrence Wetherhold might be imperiously brilliant, monumentally self-possessed and an intellectual giant, but it seems he is sleepwalking through a stunted middle age. A widower, he can’t find passion in anything anymore, not even the Victorian Literature in which he’s an expert. His collegiate son won’t confide in him, and his acid-tongued, teenaged daughter is an overachiever. Then, circumstances conspire to stir him from his deep freeze. His adopted, ne’er-do-well brother, who has perfected the art of freeloading, shows up unexpectedly for an extended stay. At just about the same time, he accidentally encounters his former student, Janet. These two events have consequences for Lawrence and everyone around him. Ludlow teams up with a young robbery homicide detective to track Washington’s killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Their determination pays off when the two detectives track down Washington’s murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice. His mother, Rosario, has worked illegally as a domestic in Los Angeles for four years, sending money home to her son and mother to give them a chance at a better life. When the death of his grandmother leaves young Carlitos alone, he takes his fate into his own hands and heads north across the border to find his mother. As he journeys from his rural Mexican village to the L.A. barrio, Carlitos faces seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a steely determination and unfettered optimism that earn him the grudging respect and affection of a reluctant protector, a middle-aged migrant worker named Enrique. The unlikely pair finds its way from Tucson to East L.A., but the only clue Carlitos has to his mother’s whereabouts is her description of the street corner from which she has called him each Sunday for the last four years. Unaware that Rosario is only hours away from returning to Mexico to be with her son, Carlitos and Enrique desperately comb the vast unfamiliar city for a place he has seen only in his imagination. Starring Adrian Alonso, Kate Del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, Maya Zapata, Carmen Salinas. Runtime 1:49. 10, 18, 25.
