Summer Theatre of New Canaan:
Apprentice opportunities for teens
|
The Summer Theatre of New Canaan (STONC), Connecticut’s professional summer theater, now in it’s fifth season, will host a six-week theater intensive and apprentice program for area high school students interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. The theater intensive will include professional training in ensemble performance, Shakespearean verse, musical theater, and more.
In addition to acting training, participants will learn the tools for creating a production from page to stage by taking workshops and master classes in adapting, directing, stage managing, designing and producing.
The faculty will be made up of New York theater professionals, Broadway performers, Chicago’s Filament Theatre Ensemble (in residence for two weeks), as well as members of the casts and production teams working on STONC’s 2008 season.
Students will also be given roles working along side the actors and production team of STONCs shows, which include:
Twelfth Night, Shakespeare for Kids, Six Impossible Things, and
The Music Man.
By the end of this six-week intensive, participants will have acquired an appreciation for ensemble building and personal discovery, as well as the tools necessary to be strong actors and informed theatre artists. Program and classes are held in New Canaan at the Irwin Park stage, The Performing Arts Conservatory of New Canaan and at the Rich Forum in Stamford. It runs from June 23- July 31. Space is limited. For more information please visit the STONC Web site at stonc.org or contact their office at 203-966-4634.
