Pro Arte Singers:
benefit evening on March 29
Mar 16, 2008
Pro Arte Singers will celebrate its 35th season, honoring Artistic Director Arthur Sjogren, with its annual benefit on Saturday, March 29, at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, libations, silent and live auctions, and a cabaret performance by Pro Arte’s own Gregory Purnhagen.
Greg, a baritone who frequently appears with Pro Arte, will reprise his acclaimed “Babalu-CY! The Art of Desi Arnaz.” The act, a hit on New York’s cabaret scene, is Greg’s tribute to the great Cuban bandleader and his wife and comic collaborator, Lucille Ball. One reviewer called it a “tour de force of night club hoopla that recalled niteries of Havana and Hollywood in the 50’s...a show bursting with fully realized concepts, interpretations and musical arrangements that filled the room with musical magic. Purnhagen commanded all this with authority and commitment.” With special guest Jenn Foster as Lucy, Greg will show Pro Arte’s friends what all the excitement is about.
Tickets at $125 each include the full evening’s events. For reservations or more information, or to make a tax-deductible auction donation, go to proartesingers.org to use an on-line registration and donation system, hosted by Events.org, or contact the Pro Arte Singers at 203-322-5970, or P.O. The Pro Arte Singers, distinguished as the region’s only choral group composed entirely of professional singers, is a non-profit ensemble, supported in part by private contributions and public grants including one from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
