Patrica Blake Catering welcomes new head chef

Patricia Blake Catering is proud to announce a new member of their team, Edward “Ned” Grieg. Grieg, who started with the Darien-based Fairfield County catering firm this month, has over 20 years of experience in the culinary world.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with Ned,” said Blake. “He has many fresh ideas and his strong culinary talents as well as his business sense will be a tremendous asset in our kitchen and, most importantly, to our clients.”

Grieg was raised in Maryland and graduated from Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. Following his graduation, Grieg studied and trained for a five year period under renowned chef, Richard Burns in New York City. In 1989, he worked as a consultant and executive working chef for Hail Columbia in Chatham, New York.
Grieg also opened The Laura W. Tanner House in 1989, a full-service fine dining establishment that served as both a restaurant and off-premise catering business. He sold the successful seasonal New England restaurant three years later.

In 1992, Ned Grieg relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he served for the next decade as executive chef for various restaurants and catering companies. During this time, he also worked as a culinary instructor at the Western Reserve School of Cooking. After 13 years of living on the east side of Cleveland, he moved to Dorset, Vt., where he was the executive working chef for The Barrows House, a distinguished inn and restaurant. In the first year, Grieg increased their culinary profits by 15 percent. 

Though he enjoyed Vermont, he wasn’t satisfied professionally. “I was still searching for the right opportunity to balance my personal and professional goals,” Grieg said.
