Andrew R. Hersam of Darien has been appointed as executive vice president of sales and chief revenue officer at Westwood One, a platform-agnostic content company providing over 150 news, sports, music, talk, entertainment programs, features and live events to numerous media partners.
Hersam was most recently vice president and publishing director at Rodale Inc., where he helped the Runner’s World brand’s advertising and sponsorship revenue for print, digital and events increase more than 150 percent. Under Hersam’s leaderships, Runner’s World was recognized twice for AdWeek’s “Hot List” and Advertising Age’s “A-List” of Best Consumer Magazine brands.
Hersam is the son of V. Donald Hersam, publisher of The Darien Times.
Prior to joining Rodale, Hersam served as New York advertising sales director and sales development director for Sports Illustrated during the brand’s most successful years. Earlier in his career, Hersam held several advertising sales positions including advertising director at Details magazine and director of corporate sales at Times-Mirror Magazines.
“With over 20 years of media sales management experience, I have had the good fortune of leveraging great content across diverse platforms to achieve significant, dynamic revenue growth working with brands like Sports Illustrated and Runner’s World,” said Hersam. “Westwood One offers the similar opportunity but on a much grander scale. Westwood One’s leadership position in radio content, its aggressive expansion across new and evolving media platforms offers powerful, innovative and measurable solutions for advertisers.”
