Joan K. Taylor, 78, Darien resident for 55 years

Joan K. Taylor, a Darien resident for 55 years, died Thursday, May 1, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 78.
Born in 1930 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Alice Brennan Knapp.
Mrs. Taylor was a long-time secretary at Tokeneke Elementary School. She was also a long-time member of the Stamford Symphony and had a great love for the Darien beaches and Long Island Sound.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel G. Taylor; three sons, Eric G. Taylor, Christopher K. Taylor and Jeffrey R. Taylor; and one daughter, Lisa Taylor. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two sisters, Barbara Sharon and Patricia Hetzler.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, from 3 to 6 on Sunday, May 4. A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 132 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, at 11 on Monday, May 5. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
