Jonathan Berg, 72, worked for Darien business

Jonathan Sherwood Berg of Old Saybrook, who once worked at Dunlap in Darien, died Tuesday, May 6. He was 72.
Born Feb. 26, 1936, in Bridgeport, Mr. Berg was the son of the late Carl John and Helen Elizabeth Sherwood Berg.
Mr. Berg grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School. He joined the Air Force and was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. He married his wife, Gwendolyn, in 1957. When he left the Air Force, he attended the University of Bridgeport. He then worked at Dunlap in Darien and soon after became owner of Morse Moving Company in New York.
Mr. Berg also went to New York Theological Seminary. He was a board member of the Pivot House and the Norwalk Homeless Shelter, an AIDS buddy, and was involved in Bible studies ministries at Gates Correctional Institution in Niantic. He was recently involved with Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Salem.
Mr. Berg is survived by his wife of 51 years; four sons, Jonathan II, Thomas, Bruce and Drew; eighth grandchildren; a sister; and a brother.
He was predeceased by a sister.
