Juliana Iorio, 62, mother of Darienite, avid gardener

Juliana J. Iorio, mother of Darienite Matthew Iorio, died Saturday, April 26, at Community Hospital in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., after “a long and courageous battle with breast cancer,” her family said. She was 62 years old and the wife of Andrew J. Iorio of Newtown.

She was born in Manhattan on April 19, 1946, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Eier Baldasty. Mrs. Iorio, who was an avid gardener, had lived in Newtown since 2000 after having spent 30 years in Ridgefield.

Besides her husband and Darien son and daughter-in-law, Sara Iorio, Mrs. Iorio is survived by two other sons, a brother and two granddaughters.

Services took place Wednesday at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown and St. Rose of Lima Church. A Mass of Christian Burial. Burial followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
