Marion K. Greig, 76, worked for many major corporations

Marion K. Greig, a long-time Darien resident who held technical positions in many major corporations, died Saturday, May 3, at Stamford Hospital. She was 76.
Born Oct. 31, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Marion Kelly Greig and John Charles Greig.

Ms. Greig’s career spanned 54 years, commencing with key punch machines and other electromechanical business equipment, and progressing through the evolution of computers and information technology. Until her retirement as a vice president with Citicorp POS Information Services, she held various technical and managerial positions with major corporations in a number of industries including work in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe. These corporations included Equitable Life Assurance Society, Pitney Bowes, Bank of California, IBM World Trade, Avon Products, and Combustion Engineering. She continued consulting in systems and process management with Fortune 500 companies until her final retirement in 2002.

In addition to technical education throughout her career, Ms. Greig attended Fordham University in New York and, for a number of years, was an instructor of project management at Norwalk Community College. In recent years, she was a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America.

Ms. Greig was a member of several professional organizations and served on the boards of the American Society for Quality and Women in Management. An avid skier, she was also a long-time member of the River Hills Ski Club in Stamford.

In retirement, Ms. Greig became active with the Darien Arts Center and other local community theater groups, and appeared in productions with the Darien Players and Darien Cabaret Theatre, Town Players of New Canaan, Connecticut Playmakers, the Acting Company of Greenwich, and the Wilton Playshop. She also sang with the Connecticut Choraliers and the Troupers Light Opera Company.

Ms. Greig is survived by a brother, Peter M. Greig of Horatio, S.C.; and her niece, Christine Castles of North Haven.

She was predeceased by her sister, Jean G. Greenberg, and her niece, Jean Jones.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 on Wednesday, May 7, at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 on Thursday, May 8, at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien.
