Darienites boost Aquianas synchro swimmers

Swimming for the New Canaan YMCA Aquianas Synchronized Swim Team, six Darien girls made a strong showing at the CT Association Championship meet held April 26-27 in Hamden.

For the Intermediates and Age Group swimmers under the age of 15, Darien's Ophelie Tousignant took the silver medal and Alice Chidley took bronze in the 11-12-year old Intermediate figures.

In Intermediate duets Darien swimmers captured two silver medals. Silvers went to Chidley and Tousignant in the 11-12 category and partner Priya Wadwa in the 13-15 group.

In 13-15 Age Group duets, Hamden took the gold with a score of 58.344. Darien's Jennifer O'Neill took silver (57.401) with her partner.

In the 10-and-under Aquiana's  took the gold medal with the trio of Camilla Kline and her teammates scoring 42.363.

In 13-15 group the bronze medal also went to a New Canaan trio with Darien's O'Neill and partners taking that medal with a score of 56.64.

New Canaan took the gold medals in all of the team competitions on Saturday.  In Intermediate 10 and under the team of Darien's Kline with five teammates took the gold medal with a score of 39.68.  In the 11-12 Intermediates Chidley and Tousignant, with six teammates captured the gold with a score of 45.845. 

With a score of 52.33, the Intermediate 13-15 team which includes Darien's Priya Wadwa took that gold medal.

In the Age Group team categories, New Canaan continued to win gold medals.  The 13-15 team of Darien's Jennifer O'Neill and her teammates again beat Hamden with a score of 59.572 to Hamden's 57.540.

16-17 and 18-19 Age Group competitors then took to the pool.  New Canaan continued their winning streak in the trio competition with the 16-17 gold going to Darien's Dana McLachlin with her trio partners with a score of 68.935.

The Darien girls continue to compete throughout the Age Group phase of synchronized swimming with a regional event in May in Andover, MA, the Eastern Zone Championship in early June and National Age Groups in early July.
