Darien rowers out in force at Mercer for NRRA

The crew of the NRRA Varsity 8, is: (left to right): Tom Liederbach (Ridgefield), Gus Vergara (Ridgefield), Mike Labine (Darien), Conor Boyd (Ridgefield), Tim Foley (Wilton), Gordon Thompson (Wilton), Aki Tas (Darien), Jake Maguire (Darien) and Frank Meade (Darien).

The Norwalk River Rowing Association youth team traveled to New Jersey for match races against rival Mercer Junior Rowing Club recently.

The boys varsity eight with Darien's Mike Labine, Aki Tas, Jake Maguire, and Frank Meade won their race by open water. 

Later in the day the eights split up and raced in fours, with Labine and Meade winning their second race of the day in a come from behind finish.

The JV eight with Lane Brokaw came in second in their race.
Michelle Bravo, rowing in the novice eight, and her teammates rowed hard and finished a close second.
