APT professionals earn board posts

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) has elected Kathleen K. Lundquist, Ph.D., president of Applied Psychological Techniques, Inc. (APT), to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 24 annual meeting.

APT is a national human resources consulting firm based in Darien. She is one of 13 new members elected to the CBIA board who will begin her term on Dec. 1.

Dr. Lundquist is a nationally recognized organizational psychologist who testifies frequently as an expert witness in employment discrimination class-action lawsuits. She is a former research associate with the National Academy of Sciences, a fellow in psychometrics with the Psychological Corp., and a summer research fellow with the Educational Testing Service.

Dr. Lundquist is a member of the board of directors of the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk and the Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County. She is a recipient of the National Association of Women Business Owners’ Connecticut 2002 “Woman Business Owner of the Year Award.”

Dr. Lundquist is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fordham University, where she received her Ph.D. in psychology with a specialization in psychometrics. She lives in Rowayton with her son, Brian.

CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000-member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs.

Susan Carnes, director of marketing and public relations at Applied Psychological Techniques, Inc. (APT), has recently been elected to the Southern Connecticut chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management’s board of directors. In her new position, Carnes will serve the chapter as chairperson of chapter communications.

APT is a national human resources consulting firm based in Darien.

Carnes has more than 20 years of experience in the marketing and public relations fields. Beginning her career as a production assistant in a Madison Avenue advertising agency, she has worked in production in radio, television, direct mail, print advertising, filmmaking, e-mail and Internet promotion, and special events in both New York City and Stamford-based agencies.

As director of marketing and public relations at APT, Carnes is responsible for the company's marketing strategy and communications, including branding, client communications, trade shows, marketing materials, public relations, speakerships, Web site design and content, copywriting, graphic design, and internal and external promotions.

Carnes received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is an active participant in several professional organizations, including the CT Business and Industry Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Fairfield County Public Relations Association and the Fairfield County Public Relations Society.

A resident of Stamford, she volunteers for many Connecticut nonprofit organizations, including the Mickey Lione Jr. Fund, the Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County, Stamford Downtown Special Services District and the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.
